Qaujimautik Systems Inc.incorporated in 2006 out of the growing number of outdoor related accidents and deaths in Nunavik, an Inuit territory north of the 55th parallel in Quebec, Canada. Nunavik has 14 Inuit communities and a total population of approximately 10,000 people.

Our goal is to provide products and services to the communities in Nunavik and abroad, that serve as precautionary measures to minimize and eventually eliminate the number of deaths by exposure.

It is estimated that at least six marine Search and Rescue (SAR) incidents occur each year in Nunavik. This statistic does not include terrestrial based incidents. From 2002 to 2004, there were 15 recorded deaths by exposure ranging from 6 to 62 years of age. 10 deaths were the result of drowning, 3 by hypothermia, and 2 by exposure on the tundra.

In keeping with our tradition of safety, Qaujimautik Systems also holds a Transport Canada Standing Offer for the purchase of Personal Flotation Devices (PFD) for the Transport Canada PFD Loaner Program. There is a considerable number of PFD loaner programs across Canada (Manitoba's PFD Loaner Program, Anishinabek Police Service & Christian Island PFD Loaner Program, etc.) and abroad (Boat U.S. Foundation Life Jacket Loaner Program) which makes it easier for boating families to stay safe while enjoying the waterways across North America. Qaujimautik Systems is proud to hold this standing offer until 2013 for the supply of these life saving devices.
